Mullumbimy is a town in Byron Shire, New South Wales. It is also known as "The Biggest Little Town in Australia". This little town is located at the foot of Mount Chincogan in the Brunswick Valley about 5.5 mi by road from the coast. According to the 2016 Australian census, Mullumbimby had a population of 3,596 people living in the area. The residents in this area call this town "Mullum".
Mullumbimby is originally occupied by an Indigenous Australian group called the Bundjalung people. The term "Mullumbimby" was given also by them which means "small round hill". Around the 1850s, Europeans created a campsite at the junction of two arms of the Brunswick River. It became a village and later the township of Mullumbimby. It was also the centre of timber production.
One of the most popular heritage-listed sites in the area is the Mullumbimby Hydro-electric Power Station Complex. It is added to the list of the New South Wales State Heritage Register on the 27th day of June 2014.
The team that represents the area when it comes to rugby league is the Mullumbimby Giants. They compete in the Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League competition.
