DID YOU KNOW THIS ABOUT WOONGOOLBA, QUEENSLAND?

Woongoolba is known to be a more rural suburb of the City of Gold Coast. According to the 2011 Census, Woongoolba hosts a population of just under 500 people.

Surrounding Woongoolba is the localities of Alberton, Redland Bay, Carbrook, Stieglitz, Jacobs Well, Norwell, and Gilberton.

The name Woongoolba is known to have been derived from the word meaning Geebung Tree int he local Indigenous Australian dialect. The area was predominantly occupied and developed by a German settlement which made their presence between 1854 and 1900.

Woongoolba is known to be an ideal location to grow sugar cane considering its many lower lying areas and open spaces. Water, therefore, may become an issue for certain residents, where smaller streams and tributaries may overflow.

Located in Woongoolba is the Bethlehem Lutheran Church established in 1882 and is still known to be in operation in recent years.

The Rocky Point Sugar Mill was also established in 1878 on Mill Road and is known to be one of the oldest sugar mills still in operations in Australia.

Cattle grazing is still known to exist in pockets of Woongoolba but not as much as it was practiced in the 1950’s.

The people of Woongoolba know a thing or two about the art of growth. With rich plantations present in the suburb, as well as the cattle farms the suburb is known for, both flora and fauna have a great space to grow in Woongoolba. There are huge spaces to breathe and live in Woongoolba, a good thing for trees. Well, maybe too good.

Trees are meant to reach out when they grow. Branches may extend as wide as the roots go underneath, and for most of the big spaces in Woongoolba, it is a good thing. For the ones growing near homes and commercial spaces, however, branches reaching out too much could be detrimental.

Branches reaching out too close above roofs and fences could fall on them and those translate to nothing but expensive repairs and probably irreplaceable losses. To help prevent unfortunate events like these, call on Tree Essence.

Tree Essence offers various tree-related services like tree pruning, tree removal, tree lopping, and other arborist services in the suburb of Woongoolba and beyond. Call Tree Essence now to know more.
