Privacy policy

Tree Essence (ABN: 26 636 421 764) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This policy explains how we collect, use, store and disclose your personal information, in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

Information we collect

Contact form & quote requests: your name, email address, phone number, the details of your message, and any photos you upload of trees or property you'd like us to quote on. Uploaded photos may include incidental information about your property or its surroundings.

Website usage: information about your device and how you use our site — such as browser type, operating system, pages visited, approximate location, and actions you take like submitting an enquiry or clicking to call us — collected via cookies, analytics tools and advertising tools, and used in aggregate to improve our website and measure our advertising.

How we use your information

To respond to enquiries, prepare and provide quotes, and manage jobs and project discussions; to understand and improve how our website works and measure the performance of our advertising; and to send you information you've requested or agreed to receive (you can opt out of marketing at any time).

Cookies, analytics & advertising

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to help the site function, to understand how visitors use it, and to measure the performance of our advertising. These fall into three broad categories: essential cookies needed for the site to work, analytics cookies that show us how our site is used, and advertising cookies that help us measure our ads and show relevant ads to people who have visited our site.

The third-party tools we use for this are:

Google Analytics and Google Ads, provided by Google LLC, which we use to understand website traffic and measure the performance of our advertising campaigns.

Meta Pixel, provided by Meta Platforms, Inc., which we use to measure the performance of our advertising on Facebook and Instagram.

These providers collect information such as your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you visit and the actions you take on our website. They collect this information directly, under their own privacy policies — Google at policies.google.com/privacy and Meta at facebook.com/privacy/policy. We do not provide these tools with your name, email address or phone number from our enquiry forms.

You can control or disable cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not work as intended. You can also opt out of Google Analytics specifically by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, and you can manage your ad preferences through your Google, Facebook and Instagram account settings.

Disclosure of your information

We do not sell your personal information or share it for third-party marketing.

We may share your information with service providers who help us run our website and deliver our services — for example our website platform, our email provider, and spam-protection tools such as Google reCAPTCHA on our forms. These providers may only use your information for the purposes we authorise.

Because we use third-party online services and tools, some of your personal information may be stored or processed on servers located outside Australia, including in the United States. This includes our website platform, our email provider, and our analytics and advertising providers (Google LLC and Meta Platforms, Inc.). We take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled securely and consistently with this policy. However, overseas recipients may not be subject to the Australian Privacy Principles, and you may not be able to seek redress under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) in relation to how they handle your information.

We may also disclose your information where required or authorised by law, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Tree Essence, our clients or others.

Security & retention

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, use, alteration or disclosure. However, no website or internet transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We keep your personal information only for as long as needed to provide our services and meet our legal obligations, then take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.

Accessing & correcting your information

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it if it's inaccurate. Contact us at admin@treeessence.com.au and we'll respond within a reasonable time.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how we've handled your personal information, please contact us first at admin@treeessence.com.au so we can address it. If you're not satisfied, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted here with a revised "last updated" date.
